Back Premier League: Leicester mayor plans special title celebrations

Leicester's mayor has revealed his intention to name some of the city's streets after the most prominent players in Claudio Ranieri's team. Sir Peter Soulsby says he will do his best to honour both the players and the manager Claudio Ranieri if they pull off the major surprise of winning the Premier League title this season.

This will not be a new thing to Leicester as the city has already honoured sportsmen such as former England striker Gary Lineker. In 2014, when the Foxes clinched the long-awaited promotion to the Premier League the achievement was celebrated by 10,000 people in Town Hall Square. Soulsby says ther city will host a "much bigger event" this time.

"Town Hall Square will not be big enough this time," the mayor said. "Leicester has honoured its sporting stars in the past. There is an area named after golfers and there is also a Lineker Road. It has been a real team effort, so as well as Vardy Vale we would need to have Schmeichel Street, Drinkwater Drive and Ranieri Road."

Leicester City are leading the Premier League table by 7 points with just 6 games left in the season, and they are 2/7 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title.
