Leicester's mayor has revealed his intention to name some of the city's streets after the most prominent players in Claudio Ranieri's team. Sir Peter Soulsby says he will do his best to honour both the players and the manager Claudio Ranieri if they pull off the major surprise of winning the Premier League title this season.
This will not be a new thing to Leicester as the city has already honoured sportsmen such as former England striker Gary Lineker. In 2014, when the Foxes clinched the long-awaited promotion to the Premier League the achievement was celebrated by 10,000 people in Town Hall Square. Soulsby says ther city will host a "much bigger event" this time.
"Town Hall Square will not be big enough this time," the mayor said. "Leicester has honoured its sporting stars in the past. There is an area named after golfers and there is also a Lineker Road. It has been a real team effort, so as well as Vardy Vale we would need to have Schmeichel Street, Drinkwater Drive and Ranieri Road."
Leicester City are leading the Premier League table by 7 points with just 6 games left in the season, and they are 2/7 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title.

Ahahah this is amazing. Ofcourse considering if it is a true. I would love to be so. For a city who's only 16th by population in England this is going to be historical moment. We all know that people in England live for a football, and this town reaching it's glory by a club who has exact same name as their city is once...

We all know that people in England live for a football, and this town reaching it's glory by a club who has exact same name as their city is once in a lifetime story. Ranieri road seems realistic to me, since he will be true legend of this 330k people city in East Midlands.

Yeah I think it's a little bit early for those plans, OK the mayor could plan all that but without speaking in front of the medias. Nothing is still certain and although all going Leicester's way for now lets wait until the title is certain. But no doubt it would be a great gesture from the local authorities to name some...

Nothing is still certain and although all going Leicester's way for now lets wait until the title is certain. But no doubt it would be a great gesture from the local authorities to name some of these streets to Ranieri and some of his players, but it would be fully deserved. Let's just hope the fairytale will have a happy ending too.

Well,If Leicester City wins a title, the players would definitely deserve this honour. Their campaign this season is one of the biggest surprise in modern sport history. They had a lot of luck to remain in the Premier League in the end of the last season, and now they are in position to become unforgettable team.

Good idea, but thinking of celebration before winning it, it is jinxing. There is still long way to win Premiership and this idea could wait for few weeks. They are in good position, 7 points ahead with six games left but this is football, everything could happen ;) Still, cheering them and would like them to win Premiership...
