Liverpool are reportedly interested in making a move for Bayern Munich star Mario Gotze, according to sources quoted by Sky Sports. Gotze is just 23 years old but already a household name in Europe after great performances at Borussia Dortmund and then at Bayern Munich. At Dortmund he was promoted to the first team by current Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp. The young midfielder scored the winning goal for the German national team in the 2014 World Cup final.
Despite his background and talent, he has not been a first team regular this season under head coach Pep Guardiola. It is quite incredible but he has started just one game for Bayern Munich since October 2015! But Guardiola will leave Bayern at the end of the season and Carlo Ancelotti, his replacement, might want to hold on to Gotze. The youngster has just one year remaining on his contract, so if Bayern want to sell they will have to do it during the summer, otherwise they might lose the player for free.
Jurgen Klopp gave Mario Gotze the chance to make his Dortmund debut as an 18-year-old in 2010. He made 99 appearances for Borussia and scored 22 goals. Then he moved to Bayern Munich in 2013 for 31.5 million pounds and scored 27 goals in his first couple of seasons in Bavaria.
Liverpool are currently 9th in the Premier League and they are 12/1 at Bet365 to finish inside the top four this season.

Gotze is a great player but probably spend too much time on the bench there in the last seasons, but the biggest fault is his really because he should made this move a lot earlier. No matter if would be Liverpool or other team, any player needs a playing time and can't just afford to sit on the bench and take his paycheck...

Too much lost time for Gotze in Munich I think.

Mario Gotze and Jurgen know each other very well, it would be a good backup. I like the way coach is managing the club , Liverpool is practically reborn. A totally different team policy. Of course it takes some time to actually lie things down but the results will come. I'm convinced. Time to get Liverpool back on its place....

Mario Gotze is with so few years made a lot of things, he scored winning goal at the World Cup in Brazil, and he is just 23,wow. I think that the only option is to come to Liverpool if the brazilian Coutinho leaves the club. Coutinho could go to Real Madrid, they need that player profile, and It would be interesting to...

Coutinho could go to Real Madrid, they need that player profile, and It would be interesting to see two Germans together again. BUT, these are just speculations, the final decision will be made by new coach Carlo Ancelotti.

I don't think player with this calibre like Mario Gotze should join Liverpool. Liverpool is still tier two kind of a team. Only if Jurgen Klopp isn't planning on completely renovating team for the next season, but it will be extremely hard considering that Manchester City will give all the money in this world to Guardiola,...

Only if Jurgen Klopp isn't planning on completely renovating team for the next season, but it will be extremely hard considering that Manchester City will give all the money in this world to Guardiola, Chelsea to Conte, Manchester United to LVG and so on. Mario isn't himself since joining Bayern and everybody knows that. I just hope he will get back on track and that we will be able to enjoy his magic just like in good old times.

It could be good deal for both sides. Gotze didn't settle well in Bayern, in Liverpool he would work with Jurgen Klopp, man who made him what he now is. Bayern won't miss him too much, but he would be major boost for Liverpool's ambition next year. They could get him for good price because his contract expires in 2017....
