Back Premier League: Liverpool set to make offer for Mario Gotze

Liverpool are reportedly interested in making a move for Bayern Munich star Mario Gotze, according to sources quoted by Sky Sports. Gotze is just 23 years old but already a household name in Europe after great performances at Borussia Dortmund and then at Bayern Munich. At Dortmund he was promoted to the first team by current Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp. The young midfielder scored the winning goal for the German national team in the 2014 World Cup final.

Despite his background and talent, he has not been a first team regular this season under head coach Pep Guardiola. It is quite incredible but he has started just one game for Bayern Munich since October 2015! But Guardiola will leave Bayern at the end of the season and Carlo Ancelotti, his replacement, might want to hold on to Gotze. The youngster has just one year remaining on his contract, so if Bayern want to sell they will have to do it during the summer, otherwise they might lose the player for free.

Jurgen Klopp gave Mario Gotze the chance to make his Dortmund debut as an 18-year-old in 2010. He made 99 appearances for Borussia and scored 22 goals. Then he moved to Bayern Munich in 2013 for 31.5 million pounds and scored 27 goals in his first couple of seasons in Bavaria.

Liverpool are currently 9th in the Premier League and they are 12/1 at Bet365 to finish inside the top four this season.
