Back Premier League: Manchester City's Vincent Kompany out for a month

Manchester City have suffered another blow as captain Vincent Kompany could be out for a month again. The skipper suffered a muscle injury during Tuesday's Champions League match against Dynamo Kiev. Kompany had recurring calf issues this season and he left the pitch on Tuesday after just seven minutes. He returned to action last month after having suffered a tear to his calf on Boxing Day.

"Vincent, unfortunately, has a muscle injury in his calf like he had before," manager Manuel Pellegrini said. "We'll know more tomorrow or maybe the day after tomorrow how important it is, but always a muscle injury is minimum of one month." Nicolas Otamendi also had to leave the pitch due to a knock, but the manager said the injury doesn't look too serious.

Vincent Kompany could miss City's matches against West Brom and Bournemouth, along with the Manchester derby against United at Old Trafford this weekend. This is the 12th time Kompany entered the injured list since joining Manchester City in 2011. "It's very difficult to find a particular thing about a muscle injury. There's a lot of things you can do to try to have less injuries but no one will be sure you are not going to have any more," Pellegrini added.

Manchester City are currently 16/1 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title this season.
