England goalkeeper Jack Butland is close to signing a new long-term contract with his current club, Stoke City. The 23-year-old shot-stopper has stepped into the spotlight this season and didn't disappoint, so the Potters are making every possible effort to tie him down to a new deal. The new contract is believed to expire in five years, according to Sky Sports.
Jack Butland's current deal with Stoke City runs out in 2019, but the new deal will surely include a significant pay raise. His performances during this campaign have propelled him into the England squad and he is seen by pundits as a viable alternative for Joe Hart.
The Stoke youngster has already earned three caps and managed to keep clean sheets in two of those matches, against Lithuania and France. He will surely be a part of England's Euro 2016 squad, unless an injury stops him before the final tournament. Last season he was a backup to Asmir Begovic at Stoke City, but after the Bosnian keeper joined Chelsea he took the number one spot. He kept 10 clean sheets in 30 matches this campaign.
Stoke City are currently ninth in the Premier League table and they are 4/5 at Bet365 to clinch a top-ten finish this season.

Nothing wrong with that new contract, hopefully he will continue with this great performance in the next season and if that happens there will be many top sides interested in him. He's still very young and all the time ahead of him so sooner or later he will leave Stoke for a more ambitious club and who knows he might be...

Good for Stoke to keep Butland. He filled into Begović's boots in really good way and that wasn't easy at all. Deserved payrise and also keeps english identity in typical "english" club. He should try to be even better and maybe make good transfer to bigger club when opportunity comes. Arsenal has got Cech who is pretty...

Arsenal has got Cech who is pretty old, United's De Gea could leave soon so there could be a place for Butland in year or two.

This is nice news to hear. I've huge respect for Stoke and what are they doing, and keeping young prospects like Jack Butland is for a long term is what they should be doing. Instead of trying to find sutiable goalkeeper somewhere outside England, they are signing long term contract with potential number One of England national team in near future. I know that he played recent games for national team, but I'm considering Hart still to have advantage in this case. Again, great deal for Stoke City.
