Arsene Wenger has not yet given up on the Premier League title, even though the Gunners are now eight points behind surprise leaders Leicester City. Last weekend Arsenal clinched a 2-2 draw in the North London derby at White Hart Lane, which was their third league match without a win. Some fans have called for Wenger's resignation in case the Gunners don't win the title this season.
Wenger said in a news conference that he doesn't feel any additional pressure: "We will not give up on the championship and will fight until the end. I believe the championship is far from over and let me remind you we have beaten Leicester twice - we have done our job against them - so people have to look at the other teams more, not us. When people question the spirit, it doesn't mean they are right. The spirit was questioned after Swansea but I would invite you to watch the game again, and then again, which is sometimes welcome for journalists to do because it might change their opinion. No matter what people say it does not influence us. Opinions are opinions. I always have the same pressure - that which I apply to myself - after that, well you have more people talking than 20 years ago, more opinions, but the pressure doesn't change. It comes from within to win the next game."
In other news, Arsene Wenger will become the longest serving manager in Europe this week as he will celebrate 20 years at the helm of Arsenal. "It's a privilege to work at a club of this stature and receive their confidence for such a long time," Wenger added."I do my job and someday someone will replace me, that's inevitable, but I try to give my best to leave this club in the best shape so that the next guy coming in will have good potential to work with."
Arsenal are 5/1 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title this season.
No they don't. Arsene's players lost their way, they don't belive in themselfs anymore. What Barcelona did to them left a scar, a scar that will last until end of the season. They seem not organised, and Giroud not scoring is just top of the ice berg. I think it's going to be battle between Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur. Foxes have 80% chances of winning since they have easier matchups and they are leading with 5 points so far.
Their biggest problem is that they no longer depend on their own results, but must wait for Leicester to lose.
Eight points difference is not much, there are still 27 points in the game, but to the team who is in crisis, seems like a serious obstacle.
I would rather say that M.City have a better chance. They have a game in hand, and If they win that game, they'll be 7 points behind Leicester.
Arsenal really didn't look as a main title contenders in the last games, I'm afraid their title chances are pretty close to 0 at the current moment. Maybe they should look more behind their backs because even top 4 finish is not guaranteed for them especially if they continue with that performance. Still I believe nothing is decided and there's still 27 possible points for all the contenders but even if Arsenal is perfect from now on they will still have to count on their opponents mistakes.
