Back Premier League: Antonio Conte in talks with Chelsea

Italy head coach Antonio Conte will hold talks, through his representatives, with Chelsea on Friday, according to Sky Sports. The discussions will be aimed at persuading Conte to join Chelsea as manager at the end of the season. Guus Hiddink is currently managing the Blues on an interim basis, after Jose Mourinho was sacked from the club in December. Antonio Conte is currently coaching the Italian national team but his contract will expire at the end of the 2016 European Championship.

The same source says that Chelsea are also considering Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone for the job, but no other names are on the list at the moment. Guus Hiddink will most likely retire at the end of the season, so he would be unwilling to take the job on a permanent basis.

Antonio Conte has made no secret of his desire to manage in other European leagues. One way or the other, it's certain that Chelsea will hire their 10th manager of the "Abramovich era" this summer. Roman Abramovich bought the club in 2004. The club have declined to comment on the alleged negotiations with Antonio Conte. As a manager Conte has led Juventus to three consecutive Serie A titles between 2011 and 2014 and has also won the Coppa Italia with the Bianconeri.

Antonio Conte is 8/13 at SkyBet to become the next Chelsea manager, while Diego Simeone is 5/2 to get the job this summer.
