Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal spoke after his side's surprising 2-1 defeat by FC Midtjylland and said the result was due to ... Murphy's law. Memphis Depay had given the Red Devils the lead, but Pione Sisto and Paul Onuachu scored to secure the win for the home side. More bad news came Van Gaal's way as first-choice goalkeeper David De Gea suffered a knee injury during the warm-up.
"It is the law of Murphy I think," Van Gaal said. "A lot of things are happening in the heads of the players and in the first 10 or 15 minutes we were not so good. In the second half we didn't win any duels, any second balls. You cannot afford a second goal, but we could have scored also. Jesse Lingard had two remarkable chances."
However, the Dutch manager defended his players. "The fans can criticise," he said. "They can do it because when you see the second half, maybe they are right. We have to improve and then the fans shall support us again. All the players want to perform in an excellent way. It is not a case of attitude. We were not winning the second balls - that is my analysis."
Louis van Gaal is the top favourite to become the next Premier League manager to lose his job according to the bookmakers, he is 4/5 at BetVictor.

I don't even want to comment this guy any more, for me he's a big joke and I'm not saying that now when United season is ruined but even before he's arrival at the club, and whole the time since that. For two seasons in charge I saw just maybe half a dozen decent performances. But the owners and Ed Woodward who are above him are really the guilty part, first for appointing a manager who has 2-3 seasons before retirement (his own words) and then to let him at his job for so long.

I do not understand this man. His team looks very bad. FC Midtjylland is a very small club for Manchester United, and I think that he should had been sacked after this match. Jose Mourinho is a good man for Manchester for long time. Only he can lead under the pressure.

I am really surprised with such interviews by Louis Van Gaal.He is main reason of disaster of Red Devils in last 2 seasons. He spent enormous amount of money and now he is blaming lady luck for bad result...I hope that United bosses will find a way to terminate his contract and find someone that is really ready to handle...

Haha, this man is a joke. I do not know whether the Manchester could have brought worse coach than him. This so-called expert who has such players on the team claims to have had bad luck? Unbelievable! Results desperate , statements to the press too , the fans do not support him. It is time for a change. Give Ryan Giggs...

He can only be better than Van Gaal.
