Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney will be out of contention for around six weeks due to a knee injury. The England skipper picked up the knock last weekend, during Manchester United's 2-1 loss at Sunderland. He could miss the team's next eight matches, during a decisive period of the season.
"He scores a lot of goals so he is very important for us. We know that but we have to cope," said Red Devils manager Louis van Gaal. Rooney remained on the pitch until the end of the match at Sunderland, despite the injury. "He's a guy who wants to go until the end and if he's feeling a pain he doesn't want to go off. He wants to win," Van Gaal said. "That's a fantastic attitude but sometimes it's also bad for his body."
Rooney will also miss England's friendly matches against Germany and Holland at the end of March, but should be able to be fit for participation at Euro 2016 as the tournament kicks off on June 10. Manchester United are currently fifth in the Premier League, six points behind fourth-placed Manchester City. Rooney has scored 7 goals in 22 Premier League appearances this season.
Manchester United are 9/2 at Bet365 to clinch a top-four Premier League finish this season.

I was keep saying since the start of the season that Rooney will end up with an serious injury sooner or later because Van Gaal never rested him and it's too tough of a schedule to play in every game more so with Rooney's style of play with a lot of waste of energy. And it happens in the most important part of the season...
I was keep saying since the start of the season that Rooney will end up with an serious injury sooner or later because Van Gaal never rested him and it's too tough of a schedule to play in every game more so with Rooney's style of play with a lot of waste of energy. And it happens in the most important part of the season when United playing literally every 3 days. Van Gaal doesn't rotate his team in the right way if he does that at all. But that just one of the many things he don't doing rightly.

Manchester United are in a bad situation, they lose two matches in a row, and in my opinion is that without Rooney, they could not win in FA cup tonight. It is time for some changes in this club. Maybe this season, Rooney is not a key player, but without him, they could not to score too much goals.
