Chinese Super League outfit Guangzhou Evergrande have completed the signing of Atletico Madrid striker Jackson Martinez for a huge fee: 31.8 million pounds. The Colombian international is set to join his new team-mates in Dubai for winter training.
"We firmly believe that the addition of international football star Jackson Martinez will strengthen our attack, providing more exciting performances for everyone," a club statement read. Martinez had joined Atletico just seven months ago for 35 million euro from FC Porto but had a disappointing half a season in Madrid. He has made just 15 appearances for Atletico and scored just 2 goals.
The signing breaks the record set by Jiangsu Suning, who bought Brazilian midfielder Ramires from Chelsea for 36 million euro. Guangzhou were keen to add another international star to a team that already has big names like Paulinho and Robinho. And they could add some more big names as their transfer window will be open until the 26th of February.
Atletico Madrid are 14/1 at Bet365 to win the Primera Liga title this season.

Maybe the Chinese team overpays consciously as a part of the player to be forced to come in China, although I don't think he has other choice at all, the alternative is full time...

Maybe the Chinese team overpays consciously as a part of the player to be forced to come in China, although I don't think he has other choice at all, the alternative is full time benched at Atletico which is not a better options by any means for whoever player or athlete. But I guess this won't be a single transfer bomb from a Chinese team, expecting more in future.
