Premier League: Crystal Palace sign Emmanuel Adebayor
Crystal Palace have completed the signing of Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor on a free transfer. The forward has signed a contract until the end of the season, if he does well the deal will most likely be extended. Adebayor, now aged 31, has been available since September after being released by Tottenham. He has scored 94 goals in the Premier League while playing for Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham. His last appearance was at the beginning of May 2015, back then he played just six minutes in a 1-0 home defeat for Tottenham against Manchester City. Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew was looking to bring in somebody to strengthen their attack after having scored just 24 goals in 23 games this season. The Eagles are 11th in the Premier League table, but could have been a lot higher if their strikers would have been more productive. Fraizer Campbell, Dwight Gayle, Connor Wickham and Marouane Chamakh, all the strikers in the squad, have managed just one league goal between them this season. Adebayor tweeted for the first time in 135 days after signing for Palace The Eagles are going through a rough patch of form, with no wins in their last six games and four defeats in a row. Alan Pardew had tried to sign Adebayor before, it was back in 2006 when he was managing West Ham. The striker preferred to join Arsenal back then, enjoyed his time under Arsene Wenger before moving on to Manchester City, then on loan at Real Madrid, and eventually to Spurs in 2012. Crystal Palace are currently 14/1 at Bet365 to finish inside the Premier League top six this season.
