Premier League: Nacho Monreal signs new Arsenal contract
Spanish left-back Nacho Monreal has put pen to paper on a new contract with Arsenal. The 29-year-old Spain international has joined the Gunners from Malaga in January 2013, first as a backup for Kieran Gibbs. He has made 113 appearances for the club in all competitions, and this season he became the first-choice left back for Arsene Wenger, who fielded him in all 22 league matches. "I met the boss three years ago and I have a really good relationship with him and I'm really happy with him. For these reasons I extended my contract," Monreal said. Wenger said: "He is a very important player at the club because he can play left-back and centre-back. He has the consistency in his performances that is requested at the top level." The length of the new contract has not been revealed by the club. Monreal has 16 caps for the Spanish national team, but in their line up he is second choice behind Barcelona's Jordi Alba. Arsenal are 6/4 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title this season.
