Primera Liga: Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal set for Barcelona debut
Summer signings Aleix Vidal and Arda Turan are at last ready to make their debuts for Barcelona as the 14-month ban on the Catalan club registering new players has expired. Vidal moved to Barcelona from Sevilla for 13 million pounds while winger Turan joined from Atletico Madrid. Both players could make their debuts in Wednesday's Copa del Rey match against Espanyol. "The boss knows we have been training for months to be in prime condition when he needs us," said Vidal. Turkish winger Turan, who has 87 caps for his national team, was Barcelona's most expensive transfer of the summer, the fee paid to Atletico was 26 million pounds. Arda Turan won the Primera Liga title with Atletico and also played the Champions League final. Vidal, who plays mainly as a right back, was an integral part of Sevilla's Europa League triumph last season. He will provide competition for Dani Alves for a slot in the starting eleven. Barcelona were banned because they had broken the rules on signing youth players from other countries. They have been unable to sign any new players in 2015, but they still managed to win everything that was up for grabs: Primera Liga, Copa del Rey, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup. Barcelona are currently second in the Primera Liga, two points behind leaders Atletico but with a game in hand, and they are 2/9 at Bet365 to successfully defend their title this season.
