Football: Turkish coach sacked after just one match in charge
Turkish top-flight club Genclerbirligi have sacked their fifth coach this season, this time after just one match in charge. It's true that the match was lost 2-0, but 62-year-old head coach Yilmaz Vural had only been at the helm for six days. Genclerbirligi are battling in the relegation zone after picking up just 13 points from 17 league matches so far. They are currently 16th in the Turkish Super Lig, which is composed of 18 teams. Ilhan Cavcav, the president of the club, has hired and fired 51 different head coaches since taking over in 1981. According to Turkish media the coach was sacked because he asked the club to sign a few new players during the winter transfer window. The president rejected the request as he considered the club already had enough players. Fenerbahce are the current favourites to win the Turkish league, they are 5/6 at Bet365 to win the title this season.
