Premier League: Bastian Schweinsteiger banned for three matches
Manchester United German midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger will receive a three-match ban after having acceepted a Football Association charge of violent conduct. The German international was charged by the FA after hitting West Ham's Winston Reid during last Saturday's goalless draw at Old Trafford. The match officials have not seen the incident but the whole thing was captured on video. Schweinsteiger will miss his team's matches against Bournemouth, Norwich and Stoke, but he should make his return against Chelsea. Three former elite referees each reviewed the video footage and decided the midfielder should have received a red card. "He knows what he's done - he's elbowed me in the face," Reid said after the match. West Ham manager Slaven Bilic said it was "a clear red card - a straight red without any doubts. It was a moment of madness. He deserved to be sent off, but the referee told me he didn't see it. Fair enough, I believe it. It was an elbow." Schweinsteiger has made 24 appearances for Manchester United after having joined last summer from Bayern Munich. He has scored one goal for the club. Manchester United are 5/1 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title this season.
