Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal says his team better than last year, despite getting knocked out of the Champions League after the group stage. The Red Devils were defeated 3-2 at Wolfsburg and finished third in their group, thus qualifying for the knockout stages of the Europa League. Man United are currently fourth in the Premier League and exited the League Cup after the fourth round, a slight progress compared to last season's second-round exit.
"When you see the facts - we went further in the Capital One Cup, qualified for the Champions League group, we have played all these matches and are still in a very good position in the league," Van Gaal said. "The facts say we are better than last year. I'm also disappointed that we are out of the Champions League. This was a tight group so I am not agreeing with any opinion that this was an easy group." United finished third in Group B with no wins out of their three away matches, two lost to PSV Eindhoven and Wolfsburg and one drawn at CSKA Moscow.
Injuries seem to be piling up for United at the wrong time of the season, they were without seven players at Wolfsburg, including Wayne Rooney. Marcos Rojo, Luke Shaw and Antonio Valencia are all out of contention in defence, Phil Jones is also struggling with an ankle problem while midfielders Morgan Schneiderlin and Ander Herrera are also out. Matteo Darmian picked up a knock during the Wolfsburg match and was replaced by 18-year-old debutant Cameron Borthwick-Jackson.
Manchester United are 5/1 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title this season.

Lol. This man is crazy. Facts are really good things but not in this case. These Manchester United are the most boring Red Devils ever. I'm sure Van Gaal is not the right person for this role. He's a very defense-minded coach while Manchester United have to focus on the attacks. They have a lot of money, they can afford to buy some current stars and not only future stars (Martial). They have 0, zero world-class striker. Rooney is not able to play on the same level anymore while Martial is too young and inexperienced for this level. I think they should sack the Dutch and hire a new coach. Giggs would be a good choice in my opinion.

Hopefully they will reach 5th round next season ;D Even if they've had won this funny cup it wouldn't be enough to cover all his other failures. Van Gaal never was and never will be a good coach, the fact is that I've had never saw team managed by him who plays a really good football, I think that's enough. The only question is how many seasons more the American owners will let Van Gaal to screw as a United manager, so far two including this, but the worst thing is that they ain't going to sack him even after the end of this. Ridiculous manager!!!
