Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has admitted he is prepared to splash some cash in January on some new players in order to improves his side's title chances. The Gunners were defeated 2-1 at West Brom last weekend, and the result dropped them to fourth place in the Premier League standings. This weekend they will face Norwich at Carrow Road on Sunday.
This summer Arsene Wenger made just one new signing: goalkeeper Petr Cech for 10 million pounds from Chelsea. The club has around 200 million pounds in reserves, so the manager will have all the money he needs if he wants to bring some new players in the January transfer window. "We are in a position where we want to do something," Wenger said. "If I find the right quality I will do something."
Arsenal are going through an injury crisis at the moment, especially in midfield, after Frenchman Francis Coquelin was ruled out for at least three months. Aaron Ramsey has returned to action though as he featured as a substitute in Tuesday's Champions League win against Dinamo Zagreb. Theo Walcott is also close to a return, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could get back to action this weekend.
Arsenal are 9/4 at Bet365 to win the title this season, their first Premier League crown since 2004.

I think the question is why Venger will have to wait until January but not made some transfers this past summer, especially after when he knows very well that most of the quality players are not available trough the January transfer window. This again looks slow reaction from him and the whole management of the club I think. We all know that Venger didn't like to spend money too much :) but Arsenal is not consistent this season as the other title contenders too by the way, so the January buys have to be made very carefully and for the right players because there's not going to be plenty of time for this new players to influence enough Arsenal game, that's have to happen quickly but not any player could adapted so fast. Arsenal has the best chance since many years to be a champion but this transfers that Venger planned could be too little too late..!

Ligue 1 like this article. I don't know how he wants to strengthen the squad. Obviously we need a very good central forward because Giroud is a good one, but not a world class option. Wenger made some really good signing recently for example Cech, Özil or Sanchez. But buying a good striker is a very hard task at nowadays....

In my opinion the only available striker who can fit easily to this squad is Higuain but I don't think Napoli want to sell their best attacker. Ibrahimovic? Too old. Cavani? Fairy tail. I think Wenger will buy some young players from the French leagues.
