Back Premier League: Aston Villa vs Manchester City preview

The league's bottom side host the leaders on Sunday as Manchester City visit Aston Villa. It will be Remi Garde's first match as manager at Aston Villa as they are still looking for their first home win of the campaign. The visitors are unbeaten in the last four league matches. Last season Manchester City won 2-0 at Villa Park. The Villains have won just one of the last ten meetings against the Citizens, who have won the last three direct meetings.

Aston Villa were beaten 3-1 by Tottenham on Monday and the result left them at the bottom of the table. Their only win was on the season's opening day, since then they haven't felt the taste of success. Their record shows seven defeats in a row in the league and eight in all competitions. Remi Garde was appointed as manager after Tim Sherwood got sacked, in an attempt to turn the club fortunes around. Villa have lost four of their five home matches this season, the worst home record in the league. Gabriel Agbonlahor will have to face a late fitness test before the match after picking up an injury at White Hart Lane.

Manchester City are top of the table after losing just two matches out of the first eleven this season. They did struggle to overcome Norwich City 2-1 last weekend, but the result extended their unbeaten streak in all competitions to eight games. Earlier this week they snatched a Champions League victory at Sevilla, securing a place in the knock-out stage of the competition. David Silva could make his return from injury, but Sergio Aguero is still out of contention along with Samir Nasri and Pablo Zabaleta. Fabian Delph and Gael Clichy have returned to training this week.

Probable line-ups:

Aston Villa: Guzan - Hutton, Clark, Lescott, Richards - Ayew, Bacuna, Westwood, Grealish - Gestede, Agbonlahor

Manchester City: Hart - Sagna, Kompany, Otamendi, Kolarov - Toure, Fernandinho - Navas, Sterling, De Bruyne - Bony

My prediction: Manchester City to win 2-0.
