Back UEFA Champions League: Sevilla vs Manchester City preview

Sevilla will be determined to secure a win on home soil when they play host to Manchester City in Group D of the Champions League on Tuesday. City are also looking for the three points, which will put them in pole position for qualification for the first knockout round. The reverse fixture was won 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium in October. That was the only previous competitive match between these two sides.

Sevilla almost snatched a point when visiting Manchester City, their defence looked solid and also their ability to launched counter attacks seemed impressive. They eventually lost the game due to a last minute goal from Kevin De Bruyne but Unay Emery's players surely gained confidence after that performance. In fact, they won the following Primera Liga match 5-0 against Getafe, with Kevin Gameiro bagging a hat-trick. However, their last result was a 2-1 defeat at Villarreal and also Gameiro suffered a hamstring injury. Ciro Immobile or Fernando Llorente will feature in attack instead of the Frenchman, while Ever Banega will have to face a late fitness test.

After the win against Sevilla the Citizens recorded a goalless draw in the Manchester derby before securing two consecutive wins, against Norwich and Crystal Palace. However, City don't have good memories from Spain as they have lost all three Champions League matches played in this country. Sergio Aguero is still injured, so Wilfried Bony will probably start up front. Fabian Delph, Gael Clichy and Pablo Zabaleta are all in doubt while David Silva and Samir Nasri are also likely to miss out.

Probable line-ups:

Sevilla: Rico - Tremoulinas, Kolodziejczak, Rami, Coke - Krychowiak, N'Zonzi; Krohn-Dehli, Banega, Vitolo - Immobile

Manchester City: Hart - Kolarov, Kompany, Otamendi, Sagna - Toure, Fernandinho - Bruyne, Sterling, Navas - Bony

My prediction: 1-1 draw.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Sevilla win - 2.90 Draw - 3.60 Man City win - 2.60
