Back UEFA Champions League: Real Madrid vs Paris Saint-Germain preview

The two unbeaten sides in Champions League Group A meet again on Tuesday, this time at the Santiago Bernabeu. The reverse fixture at the end of October ended goalless, somewhat disappointing considering the exceptional quality of the two squads. Before that draw PSG had two wins out of four matches against Real Madrid, while the Spanish side had just one win against the French champions.

New head coach Rafael Benitez had a solid start at Real Madrid, his side is still unbeaten this season. Last weekend they defeated Las Palmas 3-1 in the Primera Liga to remain top of the table on 24 points. They have won seven of the ten league matches so far and also won both Champions League clashes before the match in Paris, against Shakhtar Donetsk and Malmo. The last two Champions League campaigns have seen Real Madrid win all their three home group matches. They also hold an impressive record of 19 wins out of the previous 22 European games at home. Keylor Navas and Sergio Ramos should make their returns, but Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Dani Carvajal are expected to miss out.

PSG are totally dominating their domestic league so far, they have amassed 32 points after 12 games and lead the table with a comfortable 11-point cushion over second-placed Lyon. PSG also won their first two Champions League group matches, so they are tied with Real Madrid on 7 points. However, their tradition in Spain is not too strong, they have lost on five of their previous eleven visits. The last time they won a match in Spain was in 2013 when they defeated Valencia 2-1 in the first knockout round. Marquinhos might miss out due to a thigh issue while David Luiz is also in doubt. Javier Pastore is also unavailable through injury.

Probable line-ups:

Real Madrid: Navas - Danilo, Varane, Ramos, Marcelo - Kroos, Modric, Casemiro - Isco, Ronaldo, Jese

PSG : Trapp - Van der Wiel, Aurier, Silva, Maxwell - Verratti, Motta, Matuidi - Di Maria, Ibrahimovic, Cavani

My prediction: 2-2 draw.
