Ronnie O'Sullivan has decided not to defend his UK Snooker Championship title in York in November. The deadline to enter the tournament was October 28 and the five-time world champion declined to enter.
O'Sullivan has not played a match since the 13-9 defeat to Stuart Bingham in the quarter-finals of the World Championship in April. Last year he defeated Judd Trump 10-9 in the final to claim his fifth UK title.
O'Sullivan has also announced he would not be defending his title at the Champion of Champions event in Coventry, starting on November 10. The UK Championship is one of snooker's so-called 'Triple Crown' events, along with the Masters and the World Championship.
Despite his lack of matches, Ronnie O'Sullivan is still the favourite to win next year's World Championship, he is 15/4 at Bet365 to win it.

Such a pity.I am very disappointed to see this.Ronnie O'Sullivan is one of the biggest reason because I started to watch and follow snooker.His popularity is much bigger then the popularity of the snooker.I hope he will be back and start playing pretty soon.

Ronnie missed almost every tournament outside UK in the last few years and now declined even one of the biggest tournaments inside England?! I'm big fan of his but if he has other ideas than playing snooker probably he should stop once and for all. Ronnie might be a bookies favourite for the World Championship but he might...

This is a really bad news for them who love this beautiful sport. O'Sullivan is Mr. Snooker. He's a genius.Nobody can hate this guy who has the best results in this sport. I'm afraid of his retirement. I hoped Trump will be on the same level as O'Sullivan but there is no chance. Without O'Sullivan I won't be able to watch...
