Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger regrets using "too many experienced players" after Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott got injured in the Gunners' 3-0 League Cup defeat at Sheffield Wednesday. Theo Walcott came off the bench to replace Oxlade-Chamberlain but then had to leave the pitch on 18 minutes. Both players seem to have muscular injuries.
"We are short now with the injuries," said Wenger, who already had six first-team players unavailable through injury. "I have to manage the workload of the players and at the end of the day I still think I maybe brought too many experienced players here." Arsenal fielded a largely weakened eleven and they were defeated by Sheffield Wednesday with goals from Ross Wallace, Lucas Joao and Sam Hutchinson.
Wenger admits he would have wanted to win the match, but admitted he can't compete on all levels with the current squad. Aaron Ramsey should return at the end of November, along with David Ospina, Danny Welbeck might return around Christmas while Jack Wilshere and Mikel Arteta might be out even longer. Midfielder Glen Kamara and forward Alex Iwobi, both aged 19, made their debuts for Arsenal in the League Cup match, while 17-year-olds Ismael Bennacer and Kristian Bielik came on as substitutes. "They are not ready to play at this level," Wenger said. "We lost two players and after that I had Gabriel and Nacho Monreal on the bench but I couldn't bring them on because I couldn't afford to lose any more players."

This was bad decision for Arsene Wenger.Competitions like this are very good for giving a chance to some younger players who cant get a chance in Premier League.Arsenal not just got eliminated,they are getting back with 2 injured players.You can be happy with that.

The funny thing is that Venger is not mad about loosing the game but for those injuries. If he has give up even before the game than he really just had to put all the young players in the game and save the important ones. Arsenal have really nice chance for top 2 and even for the title this season in Premiership and this...

I just dont get Arsenal's medical team. Like, as a fan, I am shocked. Each season there is around five players with long term injury. Diaby was injured for few seasons, Walcott every now and then misses a few matches because of some issue. Aaron Ramsey doesn't play constant aswell, and Jack Wilshere misses half of a season...

I respect Arsene, but as far as injures go they are on top worldwide.

In my opinion this was the wisest decision ever made by Wenger. They have a good chance to win the Premier League's title this year and the next round f the Champions League is not reachless. Winning of the League Cup would be only a small gain but they could lose some very important players. From now they can focus only...

Arsene Wenger made the same mistake again. He changed team for this match, and success to lost the game and to lost two very important players. If you want to change team, do it with plan. They are now in big problem, lot of players are injured and that is sad. I think that Wenger need to do better job with players rotation...

This is something incredible every season it happens. A great start to the season and then half of players were injured. I can not believe to repeat the same mistake. Puts another fitness coach, I do not know what else to say. Something that only for Arsenal could happen.
