Premier League side Aston Villa have decided to sack manager Tim Sherwood after just eight months in charge. The Villains are last in the Premier League table after Saturday's 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Swansea. It was their sixth consecutive defeat.
The club released a statement saying: "The board believes the results on the pitch were simply not good enough and that a change is imperative." Former Manchester United boss David Moyes is among those who could take the job, while former Lyon head coach Remi Garde has also been linked with the vacancy. Aston Villa Under-21 manager Kevin MacDonald has been appointed as caretaker manager until a permanent solution is found.
Tim Sherwood was appointed in February to replace Paul Lambert and led the team the FA Cup final. Aston Villa finished 17th in his first season in charge, but this season they have won just one of ten league matches. Sherwood has managed the team in just 28 competitive matches, which is the shortest spell of any Villa manager. The club statement also offered Sherwood "sincere thanks for all his efforts during a difficult period last season and for the many positive contributions he has made to the entire football set-up".
You can bet on who will be the next Aston Villa manager at Bet365, here are the odds for the top three candidates:
Remi Garde - 1.36 David Moyes - 5.50 Brendan Rodgers - 8.00

This was very expected decision. In clubs in such a good league as Premier League, you cant allow yourself to have such a bad form.It is normal to get fired in that situation.Sherwood is not a bad manager, but he still needs improvements ,if he wants to be in some club for a long time.He was sacked pretty fast both in Tottenham...

Tim Sherwood is good manager, but he did not success to improve Aston Villa results. They have good team, with lot of great players, but something didn't worked. On the other side, this was good decision for Aston Villa. With new manager, they will try to improve their game and to stay above relegation line.

It's tough for me to say if this move from Villa was right or wrong but they've decided to act now although it's still the firs quarter of the season. There is no guaranties that the team will start playing better after the manager change more so there isn't sure who will replace Sherwood. He came with a big ambitions to the club and there was big expectations from the fans and board probably but like always happens in life, expectations don't meet the reality.

Sherwood has enough ability to be a good trainer but in my opinion at now he's not a complet manager. Nevertheless Aston Villa have a weak squad as well. They lost Benteke their first-choice striker and signed only Gestede and Jordan Ayew (who is a winger, not a center forward in my opinion), I think this is the main problem,...

Aston Villa is in problem, and they are main candidate for relegation this season. Maybe new manager will bring new style of play, and few new players in next transfer window, but I don't believe that will be enough to make progress with this team. Was expected after so many bad results. Aston villa is the last on the table, they have 6 consecutive losses in league. We will see whether shock therapy to succeed. My favorite for Aston Villa's bench is David Moyes. We will see what the new coach can do.
