Back UEFA Champions League: Paris Saint-Germain vs Real Madrid preview

A clash of titans will take place at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday as Paris Saint-Germain welcome Real Madrid in their Champions League group stage match. Both sides have taken six points out of six so far in the group stage, so this match will most likely decide who will win the group. The two sides have met in 1993 and 1994, first in the UEFA Cup and then in the Cup Winners' Cup, and PSG have been strongest on both occasions. They secured a 5-4 aggregate success the first time and then won the second 2-1.

PSG are undefeated so far this season, winning 11 and drawing the other two in all competitions. Laurent Blanc's men seem to be running away with the Ligue 1 title, but the club owners will be hoping for glory in the Champions League this time. They last last reached the semi-finals all the way back in 1995, so they will be hoping to at least match that performance this season. David Luiz will be unavailable due to a knee issue, but Marco Verratti has recovered from a calf injury.

Real Madrid defeated both Shakhtar Donetsk and Malmo so far, both expected results, with Cristiano Ronaldo bagging a hat-trick against the Ukrainians. They have not lost an away group match in the Champions League since 2012. Karim Benzema will most likely miss out due to a hamstring injury, but Luka Modric and Sergio Ramos could recover in time to play. Pepe, Dani Carvajal and James Rodriguez will all miss out through injury.

As for the home team, defender David Luiz will play no part because of a knee complaint, but there is more positive news where Marco Verratti is concerned following his recovery from a calf injury.

PSG possible starting lineup: Sirigu; Maxwell, Silva, Marquinhos, Aurier; Motta, Pastore, Di Maria; Lucas, Cavani, Ibrahimovic

Real Madrid possible starting lineup: Navas; Marcelo, Ramos, Varane, Danilo; Casemiro, Kroos, Modric; Isco, Bale, Ronaldo

My prediction: 1-1 draw.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:
