Back Premier League: Carlo Ancelotti desires return to English football

Former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti says he wants to return to the Premier League. The Italian manager has taken a break after being sacked by Real Madrid this summer. He underwent a back operation after losing the job and says he wants to end his holiday in January. He was linked with the Liverpool job but the Reds decided to appoint German boss Jurgen Klopp.

The former Chelsea boss has been out of work since being sacked by Real Madrid in the summer and then undergoing a back operation. In an interview published by Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, Ancelotti revealed that he would want to return to English football, where he managed Chelsea between 2009 and 2011. He won the Premier League and the FA Cup with the Blues.

"I would like to go back to the Premier League. It is the ideal environment not for football, but for the 'game' around football," Ancelotti said. "You can work there with the right amount of pressure and with the necessary detachment and calm. Before I retire, I'd like to have another experience in England. The vacation continues at least until the end of the year, then I'll start again. Where will I go? Where they call me. I will talk, evaluate and then decide. Up until a few weeks ago I was scared someone would call, but now the return is getting closer. Unless something strange happens. I am ready to get back on the bike in January."

Carlo Ancelotti is 4/1 at BetVictor to become the manager to succeed Manuel Pellegrini at Manchester City.
