Bet365's Australian operations have caught the attention of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission due to its betting incentives and wagering requirements.
The Commission filed a case in federal court against Bet365's Australian and UK companies, Hillside (Australia New Media) and Hillside (Shared Services) regarding complaints that the company has deceived players with its 10 month offer of A$200 in 'free' bets for new customers. The bonus offer actually required new players to wager their initial deposit plus the bonus 3x before a cashout would be permitted.
The court ruled on the side of the Commission having determined that Hillside's promotion was misleading.
“New customers who had not previously used such types of services were drawn into this web of deception,” Justice Jonathan Beach said.
A future hearing will be held to assess penalties.

Bet365 is worldwide well known company. They are really powerfull and it is expected from them to see improvements all the time.It is a rare situation to see this.Australian gambling rules are definitely too rigid.I am sure that bet365 will find a way to find some more customers.

Obviously the rules of gambling in Australia are very strict and many of the leading sports betting companies have problems with the local authorities regularly. I think this offer for new customers will be called pretty usual in the most parts of the world but the Australian gambling authorities don't think that way and maybe they are right in protecting the players rights.
