Manchester United are ready to spend 36 million pounds to sign 19-year-old Monaco striker Anthony Martial. The young forward has also been linked with Arsenal but Louis Van Gaal was more determined to get him, a bit too determined some critics say, considering the transfer fee.
Martial scored eight goals in 31 league games last season and is set to become the most expensive teenage player in football history. He will also rank high on the Manchester United most expensive transfer list: third after Angel Di Maria (£59.7m) and Juan Mata (£37.1m).
Martial is a France Under-21 international which will most likely make his debut for the senior team as he was called up for the upcoming matches. He was a sensation at youth level, bagging 32 goals in 21 games for Lyon. He joined Monaco in 2013 for 3.5 million pounds and scored two goals in 15 appearances during his first season there. France head coach Didier Deschamps holds him in high regard: "He's got a good combination of pace and power. He's got good potential and I want to see how he does with the squad."
Manchester United are 15.00 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title this season.

I am totally with panettone0 here. This transfer shows how Manchester United and their manager Van Gaal are desperate. I won't talk that Martial is bad player because he is not that bad, but does he deserve that kind of money? No for sure but Manchester saw that they didn't play as they expected and they must do something....

Martial is great player and big big talent and only people who don't know this player can talk bad about this transfer. I think that Manchester with Depay and Martial have bright future and this transfer is big investment for Red Devils because this player will be great. Smart move by Manchester united board.

I am shocked with this transfer. 36- millions pounds for 19 years old player? I am not sure what Manchester want to do with this player, I think that he is not ready for Premier league and spent all that money for player who will sit on bench... This move is questionable but I am sure that Manchester united and Van Gaal...

Anthony Martial is a fantastic young player and I expect from him to develop in one of the best players in the world. He has great potential and desire to work and improve himself. But, I agree with others about the fact that he is overpaid. 50 millions euros is big money and I think it's insane to give such a money for...

This deals make me feel angry. It really is not fair to spend so much money on one player.I understand that there is very big money in football, but this is totally out of control.Martial is good player,he will raise into great player, but this is insane decision by United.

I cant understand this kind of spending money... Pay so much for a player who's only a prospect, at the same time loan from your squad same type of players on other teams is no winning strategy for my opinion... Will see this season how good this move is actually, but MU after Sir Alex is some other story....

As far as I know the deal have been all ready proceeded and Martial is a MU player now. I couldn't tell anything for the boy because he is unknown to me, like for the most of the fans I suppose. One thing is for sure this deal is a big gamble and although Van Gall said that there will be no panic buys in United, this looks to be just that. After all the outgoing transfers that United do before that, there was just not enough attacking players in the squad. I think United could own him at half of that price but they seems to overpay for every single new player, not only that but looks like they've enjoying while doing that!
