Back Premier League: Newcastle United vs Arsenal preview

Newcastle are still looking for their first Premier League victory of the season while Arsenal will be trying to improve their start of the campaign when they travel to St James' Park on Saturday. The last few meetings between these two teams have produced lots of goals, no less than 34 in the last nine matches. Arsenal have not lost at Newcastle since 2005 and have won all the last seven direct meetings.

Newcastle had a draw and a defeat out of the season's opening two matches against Southampton and Swansea City respectively, but then secured a goalless draw at Manchester United and a solid 4-1 victory over Northampton Town in the League Cup. Papiss Cisse might be given a place in the starting eleven this time instead of striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Arsenal have started the season with a 2-0 home defeat against West Ham, then steadied the ship with a 2-1 victory at Crystal Palace but were held to a goalless draw at the Emirates Stadium by Liverpool on Monday. Arsene Wenger admits that the match at Newcastle will not be easy at all: "They have just come out from a good result at Manchester United so it's important that we prepare well and we give absolutely everything to win this game before the international break." Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny are in doubt, but the Frenchman is more likely to recover in time for the match.

Probable line-ups:

Newcastle: Krul - Janmaat, Coloccini, Taylor, Haidara - Anita, Colback, Wijnaldum, Perez, Obertan - Cisse

Arsenal: Cech - Bellerin, Gabriel, Koscielny, Monreal - Coquelin, Cazorla - Ramsey, Ozil, Sanchez - Giroud

My prediction: Arsenal to win 3-1.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Newcastle win - 6.00 Draw - 4.20 Arsenal win - 1.61
