Stoke City have signed Inter Milan Swiss winger Xherdan Shaqiri for a club-record fee of 12 million pounds. The Switzerland international already has 46 caps for his country even though he is just 23 years old. He has put pen to paper on a five-year contract with the Potters, becoming their ninth signing of the summer.
"He's a dynamic and explosive player who will bring something different," said Stoke manager Mark Hughes. The previous record signing for the Potters was towering striker Peter Crouch, who moved from Tottenham for 10 million pounds in 2011.
Stoke have tried to sign Shaqiri earlier this summer but they pulled out of negotiations a month ago. Last weekend the player was at the Britannia Stadium to watch the team's 1-0 defeat to Liverpool. Shaqiri came through the youth ranks at FC Basel before moving to Bayern Munich. In January he moved to Inter Milan, where he scored three goals in 20 appearances. He also has 17 goals scored for the Swiss national team.
Stoke are 2.20 at Bet365 to finish inside the top half of the Premier League table this season.

Everyone will be happy with this deal.Stoke brought fantastci player,that will become their key player,for sure.On the other side,Inter sold him for more money than they spent when they were buying him,so they will be satisfied with him.Shaqiri will have a lot of chances to play,so he can revive his career completely.

What a great signing is this for Stoke City, their best signing, and not just for this summer like rikimartin said, but in last couple of years. He is great player, he is fast, strong, he have great technique and also have very powerful shot. It will be great to watch Stoke's games this season, and I suppose that they can...

This is the best transfer for Stoke City this summer. They bought player that will bring them lot of goals and assists. Xherdan Shaqiri is a fantastic player, with lot of trophies in his carer. He played for big clubs and now it's time for him to be key player in Stoke City. I think that this will be great season for him.

Definitely a good transfer for Stoke City, Shaqiri is a very good player and although he is all ready very experienced, in the end he is just 23 year old. Many of the Premier League teams broke their transfer records in the last year or two and that just shows what enormous amounts flowing in the league lately.
