Back Premier League: Manchester City make bid for Kevin De Bruyne

Manchester City have made a £47m bid for Wolfsburg's Kevin de Bruyne, according sources quoted by Sky Sports. The former Chelsea player has been on City's radar for quite some time but Wolfsburg have previously denied having received an official bid.

The 23-year-old attacking midfielder was unable to break into the first team at Chelsea and was sold to Wolfsburg. He said that he had contact with City while his agent, Patrick De Koster, admitted that they are waiting for an agreement to be reached between the two clubs. De Koster said: "I have read a lot of nonsense in the media. Kevin remains a Wolfsburg player and is focused on his job at the club. We are waiting to discover whether any agreement has been reached between the clubs. That is for the clubs to decide, and not for us. There is no medical planned at this stage, and he is happy at Wolfsburg."

Wolfsburg's managing director, Klaus Allofs, has said he expects the youngster to remain at the club. Last month he said: "Kevin hasn't come to us or asked if we would agree to let him go. So if you would ask me today, if Kevin will stay in Wolfsburg, my answer would be yes – 99.9 percent." De Bruyne had a great season in the Bundesliga, bagging 16 goals in 49 appearances.

Manchester City are 3.00 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title this season.
