Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny moves to Italian side Roma on a season-long loan deal. The 25-year-old goalie was no longer the first choice number one at the Gunners, he lost his spot to David Ospina in the second half of last season. Moreover, Arsenal have signed former Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech this summer.
Szczesny has made 180 appearances for Arsenal after joining their youth squad in 2006 from Legia Warsaw. "I believe he will have a future at Arsenal," said manager Arsene Wenger. "I rate him highly. I put him in the first team at the age of 20 and he already has huge experience. Roma is a big club, they play in the Champions League, play in a very different championship and that is a big experience for him."
Szczesny made 17 Premier League games last season, his last game for the Gunners was the 4-0 FA Cup final win against Aston Villa in May. "I had a difficult time last year - I'm the first person to admit that," the goalie said. "I didn't have the best of seasons, that's why things have turned out the way they have, but I'm grateful because it gives me the opportunity to join Roma this season. If I work hard - and with the help of the coaches - I'll be able to help the team improve from last season and hopefully challenge for the title." Szczesny will have to compete with Morgan De Sanctis and Bogdan Lobont for the place between the sticks at Roma.

Wojciech Szczesny is great goalkeeper but when Arsenal sign Peter it was clear that he can't be first choice and he left Arsenal on loan. I think that is smart move because he is young goalkeeper and he need a lot of minutes in play to be better and in Arsenal he can't have that.

Wojciech Szczesny is nice goalkeeper,but I am not sure that he will be immediately become the first choice at Olimpico .Roma already has good options but Wojciech Szczesny will only be a great rival for all of them.He could not play for Arsenal after they bought Petr Czech so it was expected from him to find new club.

Wojciech Szczesny is good goalkeeper but I am not sure that he is good enough for team he will fight for title. In last couple years he made huge mistakes and that was his biggest problem. We will see him in Seria A next season. Roma need to bring new keeper and they did it. Loan is good options for Roma, they can't lose...

For now he's just on loan to Roma but I'm afraid that this almost certainly means that Venger will not rely on him in future as a Arsenal number 1 on the goal, especially after Cech's arriving in the club. Szczesny is a very nice goalkeeper though and didn't have to be a problem for him to find a new team after his loan...

As a big Juventus fan I must admit that I'm a bit "afraid" of winning our fifth consecutive Serie A title. Roma, Napoli, Inter, Milan and others are signing great players and it will be very interesting season in Italian football. Wojciech Szczesny is great goalkeeper but when there is "Super Gigi" there not will be another...
