Former Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby has signed a contract with Ligue 1 side Marseille. He has previously been in talks with West Brom, even had a medical, but the deal did not go through. The French midfielder decided to return to Ligue 1 where he has last played nine years ago for Auxerre.
Diaby was released by the Gunners last month. He has made 182 appearances for the club since joining them in 2006, but only managed two appearances in the last couple of seasons.
Last week another former Arsenal midfielder has chosen to join Marseille: Lassana Diarra. The French club have not revealed any details regarding Diaby's contract. Marseille, who have finished fourth in Ligue 1 last season, have also signed AS Monaco striker Lucas Ocampos for 6.5 million euro this summer.
Marseille are 21.00 at Bet365 to win the Ligue 1 title next season.

And he is back where he belongs...some players just have their best place to grove or to play the best, and I suppose that french league is that for him. Weak game in Arsenal, in last two seasons, not surprised at all that they released him.

There simply was no place for Abou Diaby in this seasons squad of Arsenal. He is fine player, but there are better in the Gunners team. This is good chance for him to revive his career,he will get chance at Velodrome. It is important for him to stay healthy. In that case, this will be top transfer for Olympique Marseille.

In one moment of his career he's looked like a very good midfielder but I think that the level of his game dropped in the last seasons, maybe because of injuries or just not fit enough but obviously he didn't pass the fitness test in West Brom and that's why he has to go back in France which is a step back for him I think.

Just like panettone0 said, it's very sad when some player with great future get's so many injuries and that often. When I first saw him in Arsenal's jersey I predicted that he will be great player, and now when I see that he is signing Marseille, it's really sad. I don't want to say that Marseille is not good club, maybe...

I don't want to say that Marseille is not good club, maybe it's great thing for Diaby too, but I've really expected more from him.
