Back Premier League: Esteban Cambiasso turns down Leicester City offer

Argentina midfielder Esteban Cambiasso has rejected the latest contract offer from Premier League side Leicester City. The 34-year-old midfielder signed a one-year contract with the Foxes last summer and that deal has expired in June. New boss Claudio Ranieri has spoken with the player about a new contract and even asked him to "please come back".

The former Inter Milan and Real Madrid midfielder said in a statement: "I have decided not to renew my contract with Leicester City. I have taken this decision only 24 hours after receiving the proposal from Leicester because I want to give the club as much time as possible to find an alternative."

Cambiasso made 33 appearances in all competitions last season for Leicester City, scoring five goals. The Foxes pulled off an amazing surge in the last part of the season, winning seven of their last ten games to secure their presence in the Premier League. "I have lived one of the most important years of my career," Cambiasso added.

Leicester City are 1.28 at Bet365 to avoid relegation from the Premier League next season.
