Back Tennis: Andy Murray to face Roger Federer in semi-finals

Andy Murray will play his sixth Wimbledon semi-final in seven years after defeating Canadian Vasek Pospisil in the quarter-finals on Wednesday. The third seed of the tournament needed just two hours and 13 minutes to win 6-4 7-5 6-4. His opponent in the last four is Roger Federer, who won 6-3 7-5 6-2 in one hour and 34 minutes against Gilles Simon.

Murray said: "I know Roger very well, we walked to the practice courts together this morning. Friday is a different story and hopefully we can have a great match. I have loved playing here over the years. I have always played some of my best tennis here. I hope I can get to another final but it will be a tough one." The other semi final will see world number one Novak Djokovic take on Richard Gasquet. Djokovic defeater Marin Cilic in straight sets while Gasquet survived a marathon match to defeat Stan Wawrinka in five sets.

Here's what Federer had to say about Friday's semi-final against Murray: "We both like to look back on that summer of 2012. If we knew beforehand that I would win Wimbledon and him the Olympics, I think we both would have taken it. It was a great summer for us. I am happy for him, he is doing so well after his back surgery. People forget how hard it is to get back from injury and get back into contention to win tournaments. Friday will be a tough one for me but I am obviously looking forward to it."
