Tennis: Andy Murray to face Roger Federer in semi-finals

Andy Murray will play his sixth Wimbledon semi-final in seven years after defeating Canadian Vasek Pospisil in the quarter-finals on Wednesday. The third seed of the tournament needed just two hours and 13 minutes to win 6-4 7-5 6-4. His opponent in the last four is Roger Federer, who won 6-3 7-5 6-2 in one hour and 34 minutes against Gilles Simon.

Murray said: "I know Roger very well, we walked to the practice courts together this morning. Friday is a different story and hopefully we can have a great match. I have loved playing here over the years. I have always played some of my best tennis here. I hope I can get to another final but it will be a tough one." The other semi final will see world number one Novak Djokovic take on Richard Gasquet. Djokovic defeater Marin Cilic in straight sets while Gasquet survived a marathon match to defeat Stan Wawrinka in five sets.

Here's what Federer had to say about Friday's semi-final against Murray: "We both like to look back on that summer of 2012. If we knew beforehand that I would win Wimbledon and him the Olympics, I think we both would have taken it. It was a great summer for us. I am happy for him, he is doing so well after his back surgery. People forget how hard it is to get back from injury and get back into contention to win tournaments. Friday will be a tough one for me but I am obviously looking forward to it."

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Andy Murray win - 1.80
Roger Federer win - 2.00

Well, everybody was expecting this semi final and now it's come true. This half of the draw was just ridiculously easy for Federer and he not faced a decent opponent till that stage. The same can be said for Murray too except for the game against Karlovic. This mach well be pretty even I think, expecting to be decided in 4 or 5 sets but don't have an idea who is going to win it.

This will be fantastic match. Those two playersboth won Wimbledon.Murray will have a big support at the central court. Most important thing for todays match will be serve.Who serves better today,he has big chances to win in the semifinals. this win will be a big boost of confidence for someoneI give a little bit more chances to Roger, but everything can happen.

Although I believe that Murray is one of the main favorites on this tournament, which I said couple of days ago on this site, I believe that Federer still has quality to beat top players like Murray. Surely that he will have tough task, because Murray is playing at his home, and he will have lot of supporters on the match

I'm watching at the moment this match, and I have to say that I'm really enjoying it. Roger Federer is playing great, just like I've expected from him, but on the other side, Andy Murray is not on his "class" right now. I've really expected more from him in this match. But it's just end of the second set and many things can change until the end.
