Back Tennis: Andy Murray battles past Ivo Karlovic to reach Wimbledon quarter-finals

Andy Murray fought past the immense serving of 6ft 11in Croatian Ivo Karlovic to reach the Wimbledon quarter-finals for the eighth consecutive year. Murray won 7-6 (9-7) 6-4 5-7 6-4 in three hours and three minutes. Karlovic seemed ready to fight till the end when he clinched the third set but Murray broke his serve in the fourth set to win the match. The number three seed will face Canadian player Vasek Pospisil in the quarter-finals on Wednesday.

"I came up with some good lobs and passing shots. I just needed to keep him low," Murray said after the match. "It was an incredibly difficult match. It was mentally tiring. Maybe not as tiring physically due to the points being so quick. You've always got to be ready to take your chances. It's about getting the balance right and getting through. It wasn't going to be the best tennis, it was about getting through."

Roger Federer had a much easier task against Roberto Bautista-Agut, the Swiss wrapped up the match in three quick sets, 6-2 6-2 6-3. Fellow Swiss player Stanislas Wawrinka also pulled through with a straight-sets victory over Belgium's David Goffin, while France's Gilles Simon pulled off a surprise as he defeated Tomas Berdych 6-3 6-3 6-2.

Stan Wawrinka is 1.44 at Bet365 to win the quarter-final match against Richard Gasquet while Murray is 1.062 to go past Pospisil.
