Back Copa America: Chile vs Bolivia preview

Host nation Chile take on Bolivia at the Estadio Nacional on Saturday knowing that whoever wins this match will qualify for the last eight as winners of Group A. The last victory for Bolivia against Chile was fifteen years ago, but that match was played in La Paz at 3,600 metres above sea level. Chile have won 25 of the 41 meetings with Bolivia and were beaten just six times.

Chile started the tournament with a solid 2-0 win over Ecuador but then were held to a spectacular 3-3 draw by Mexico. Arturo Vidal scored twice in that match after having opened the scoring against Ecuador as well. The Juventus midfielder has taken the celebrations a bit too far though, he crashed his car on Tuesday while under the influence of alcohol and might be detained if the local judge says so. Matias Fernandez is available after suspension.

Bolivia started the tournament with a goalless draw against Mexico but then ended their 18-year wait for a Copa America victory with a 3-2 triumph over Ecuador, after holding a 3-0 first-half lead. Head coach Mauricio Soria will most likely field an unchanged starting eleven as all his players are available.

Probable line-ups:

Chile possible starting lineup: Bravo - Albornoz, Medel, Jara - Isla, Aranguiz, Diaz, Valdivia, Fernandez - Alexis, Vargas

Bolivia: Quinonez - Hurtado, Raldes, Zenteno, Morales - Smedberg, Bejerano, Chumacero, Escobar - Pedriel, Martins

My prediction: Chile to win 1-0.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Chile win - 1.33 Draw - 5.50 Bolivia win - 11.00
