Liverpool have formally rejected a second offer from Manchester City for forward Raheem Sterling. The offer was 35.5 million pounds but it would have gone up to 40 million with various add-ons and extras.
The Reds have set a 50-million pounds price tag on the 20-year-old forward, who has also been linked with Real Madrid and Arsenal. Last week Liverpool received an offer of 25 million pounds from Manchester City, which they promptly rejected.
Liverpool brought in Sterling from Queens Park Rangers in 2010 and have him on a contract until 2017. However, the youngster has rejected a new deal that would have seen him earn 100,000 pounds per week. Reds boss Brendan Rodgers said that he expects Sterling to remain under his command until his contract expires.
You can bet on Raheem Sterling's future at SkyBet, here are the odds on which will be his club at the end of the current transfer window:
Manchester City - 1/6 Liverpool - 6/1 Real Madrid - 7/1 Chelsea - 8/1 Arsenal - 10/1

Raheem Sterling is overrated player. He is young and he knows to play football but he is only kid. We are talking about big big money for one kid who can be the best on the world but who can also be worse. I think that he should stay in Liverpool and prove that he is world class and than he can get a lot of money and bigger...

Reality is that Coutinho is not England player, and tabloids are pumping this thing up.

I think that Liverpool should let go Raheem Sterling. It is clear that he doesn't want to stay and why keep a player who is unhappy. If he is unhappy he can't play at the best level and he can't be as good as he is and that is one of the reasons why they should sell him. Another reason is that he will go after contract...

If you think better, there is no many other clubs in the wolrd that are capable of paying 50m pounds for a player.I am pretty sure that even if Sterling leaves the Anfield, that he will stay in Premier League. There are rumours that Manchester United really wants him,but there is big problem cause of rivalry of two clubs.

He is good young player but it was obvious that he doesn't play so good at the end of the season, because he had this transfer talks in mind. I believe that for Liverpool is better solution to sold him right now for 50m because he is unsatisfied, and no one needs that kind of players in the team

Sterling would be insane if he stazs in Liverpool.Liverpool was very bad this season. Sterling is super talented and he can already play in almost every club in the Europe. If he wants to become one of the best players in the world ,he will have to go to some club with bigger ambitions.

Well, Liverpool is sure that they can sell Raheem Streling for 50M and they will do that. He is amazing player and he is only 20 years old. Also, very important is fact that he is domestic player. Manchester City really want to bring him this summer and they will do that. Liverpool have to spend money smart and bring players...

I agree with seculla.a bid at least 40m could set appart Sterling from the Anfield.I actually think that they should not sell him for the amount smaller that 50 milion. He is super fast player with great technique and he is still very young. It is expected from him to become best English player for a 4-5 years.Liverpool knows...

Raheem Sterling decided that he want to sign and play to a new club and it's clear that he will do that this summer. Many clubs are interested for signing him and just like sharpe said, I think that this 40M offer from Manchester City is fair enough. We understand that Liverpool want to "cash in" as much as they can get...

I think this is very reasonable offer for Sterling, moreover he didn't want to continue to play for Liverpool. In the end Liverpool could be in curious situation if they didn't sell him. I believe that Man City probably will raise the offer a little bit and Liverpool have to sell him then. I don't think that Sterling worth 35 mil pounds and for sure the asking price of 50 mil from Liverpool is just ridiculous although the clubs in the Premier League spend like crazy in the past year.

This is smart move by Rodgers. Sterling and Sturridge are the only players in Liverpool that are top class players. That is very bad. They cant sell neither of them.Liverpool must strengthen all the areas,if they want to be competitive next season. That is also main reason why Raheem Sterling would change the club.He simply...
