Back Serie A: Lazio dismiss Robin van Persie transfer talk

Lazio have rejected the rumours of a move for Manchester United forward Robin van Persie, saying that the player is "outside of their parameters". The Dutch striker was seen in Rome this week and that led to speculation regarding a move to Lazio. He is still under contract with Manchester United for another season.

Lazio sporting director Igli Tare said: "On Van Persie, all I can say is that I respect him as a striker but unfortunately, he is outside our parameters. There has never been a meeting, this is gossip, not transfer news. We don't want to create illusions, this is not true."

Van Persie moved to Old Trafford from Arsenal in 2012 and bagged 26 goals in 38 Premier League appearances in his first season with the Red Devils. The following two seasons were disappointing though, he scored just 12 league goals in 2013-2014 and only 10 this season. Lazio should be an interesting target for high-profile players this summer as they qualified for the Champions League after finishing third in the Serie A this season.

Lazio are 101.00 at Bet365 to win the Champions League next season.
