Back UEFA Champions League Final: Juventus vs Barcelona preview

The Olympiastadion in Berlin will be the stage for the big show this Saturday, the Champions League final. The champions of Italy and Spain will battle it out for the trophy, with both sides having already claimed the domestic league-cup double. The only previous Champions League meeting between the two sides was in the 2003 quarter-finals and Juventus won that tie after extra time. Juventus also lead the head-to-head record with four wins out of eight matches. If Barcelona win they would become the first European club to complete the treble more than once.

Juventus have been dominating Italian football lately, they have four consecutive Serie A titles and in the last two seasons they won it with a huge margin of 17 points. This is the first Champions League final for Juventus in 12 years since losing to AC Milan in 2003. The last time they won it was in 1996 when they defeated Ajax on penalties. Juventus will be without central defender Giorgio Chiellini, who will be unable to meet Luis Suarez for the first time since the famous biting incident at the 2014 World Cup. Martin Caceres is also out, so Andrea Barzagli should fill in.

Barcelona finished two points clear of Real Madrid to win the Primera Liga title this season and they also won the Copa del Rey last week with a 3-1 victory over Athletic Bilbao. Their last final was in 2011 but this time they seem to have an even better squad, with Messi, Neymar and Suarez forming probably the best attacking trio in the world. They have scored no less than 120 goals between them this season, surpassing the record previously held by Ronaldo, Benzema and Higuain, who scored 118 for Real Madrid in 2011-2012. Barcelona have no injury worries, so Luis Enrique will probably field the same eleven that played in the semi-finals against Bayern Munich.

Probable line-ups:

Juventus: Buffon - Lichtsteiner, Bonucci, Barzagli, Evra - Pirlo, Pogba, Marchisio, Vidal - Morata, Tevez

Barcelona: Ter Stegen - Alves, Pique, Mascherano, Alba - Rakitic, Busquets, Iniesta - Neymar, Suarez, Messi

My prediction: Barcelona to win 3-1.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Juventus win - 6.00 Draw - 4.20 Barcelona win - 1.61
