Back FA Cup Final: Arsenal vs Aston Villa preview

This Saturday Arsenal face Aston Villa at Wembley in the final of this year's edition of the oldest cup competition in the world the FA Cup. Arsenal are strong favourites but since we have already witnessed quite a few surprises already this season the Gunners should not take this for granted. These two sides have never met in an FA Cup final before, even though they have played no less than 28 finals between them. Arsenal have beaten Aston Villa quite heavily this season, 3-0 at Villa Park and 5-0 at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal could become the most successful team in the history of the FA Cup, they have won it last year to become level with Manchester United as 11-time winners of the competition. If they beat Aston Villa they will become the first team to win the cup 12 times. Also Arsene Wenger would overtake Sir Alex Ferguson if he wins his sixth FA Cup. The Gunners will be without injured Danny Welbeck but Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is fit to play. Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Debuchy are still out of contention.

This will be the first FA Cup final for Aston Villa in 15 years and their chance to end a 19-year-long trophy drought. Their last FA Cup trophy was won all the way back in 1957. Tim Sherwood has managed to achieve his primary goal, which was to save the club from relegation, now the FA Cup final is a great bonus for him and his players. They have knocked out Liverpool en route to the final, proving that they are capable of producing an upset. If they win they will qualify for the Europa League at the expense of Southampton. Shay Given could miss out due to a groin injury, while Kieran Richardson is also in doubt.

Probable line-ups:

Arsenal: Szczesny - Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal - Cazorla, Coquelin, Ramsey, Ozil, Sanchez - Giroud

Aston Villa: Given - Bacuna, Vlaar, Baker, Richardson - Cleverley, Westwood, Delph, Grealish - Agbonlahor, Benteke

My prediction: Arsenal to win 3-1.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Arsenal win - 1.57 Draw - 4.33 Aston Villa win - 6.50
