Back Primera Liga: Gareth Bale expects to remain at Real Madrid

Gareth Bale says he expects to remain at Real Madrid next season, even though manager Carlo Ancelotti was dismissed by the club. The Welsh superstar issued this statement on Twitter: "Will be working hard in the off season and looking forward to coming back next season stronger with Real Madrid." He has been linked with a return to the Premier League but there were no official offers revealed so far.

Bale is still the world's most expensive player after being signed in a £85.3m deal from Tottenham in 2013. He managed to score 24 goals in 46 games during his opening season in Spain and won the Champions League and Copa del Rey with the Blancos. Things didn't go so well for him in the second season though, he was criticised by the Spanish media and also has been booed by some of the fans.

"Not the end of the season we had hoped for, we always want to win trophies!" added Bale after Real Madrid ended the season without any silverware. Wales manager Chris Coleman also expects Bale to stay at Real Madrid despite the reports linking him with Manchester United. "The Real Madrid president Florentino Perez thinks a lot of Gareth," said Coleman. "Unless Gareth wants to leave, which I don't think is the case, then I don't think he'll go anywhere. I don't think he wants to leave. It's arguably the biggest club on the planet. I don't really see him wanting to move, no."

Real Madrid are 2.50 at Bet365 to win the Primera Liga title next season.
