Back UEFA Europa League Final: Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk vs Sevilla preview

Ukrainian side Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk will try to produce yet another upset and stop Sevilla from winning consecutive Europa League titles when the two sides meet in Warsaw on Wednesday evening. This season there is added importance to the Europa League title as the winner will get a place in next season's Champions League. Dnipro have faced Spanish opposition only once before, that was back in 2004 when they were beaten 2-1 by Real Zaragoza. The only previous Ukrainian-Spanish European final was in 1986 when Dynamo Kiev beat Atletico Madrid to win the European Cup Winners' Cup.

This will be the first ever European final for Dnipro, they have surprised the whole continent this season. Their best performance until now was reaching the quarter-finals of the European Cup in 1985 and 1990, back in the days of the defunct Soviet Union. They had started the campaign in the third qualifying round of the Champions League, got dropped to the Europa League and finished second in their group behind Inter Milan. They really started to get going in the knockout stages though, first they ousted Olympiacos, then Ajax, Club Brugge and last but not least Napoli. They are unbeaten in the last four away games in this competition. Serhiy Kravchenko and Roman Zozulya are both injured but Yevhen Konoplyanka and Ruslan Rotan should return to the starting eleven.

Sevilla are looking to become the first club to win back-to-back Europa League titles after they beat Benfica in last season's final. They have lost just one game in this season's competition. After finishing second behind Feyenoord in the group stage they knocked out Borussia Monchengladbach, Villarreal, Zenit St Petersburg and Fiorentina. Sevilla are unbeaten in four matches against Ukrainian sides but they have never met Dnipro before. They finished fifth in the Primera Liga, so winning the Europa League is their only chance to get a Champions League spot. Sevilla will be without first-choice goalkeeper Beto and Nicolas Pareja is also out through injury.

Probable line-ups:

Dnipro: Boyko - Matos, Cheberyachko, Douglas, Fedetskiy - Fedorchuk, Kankava - Konoplyanka, Rotan, Luchkevych - Seleznyov

Sevilla: Rico - Coke, Carrico, Kolo, Tremoulinas - Krychowiak, Mbia - Vidal, Banega, Vitolo - Bacca

My prediction: Sevilla to win 2-1.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Dnipro win - 6.50 Draw - 4.00 Sevilla win - 1.62
