Back Premier League: Queens Park Rangers vs Newcastle United preview

Newcastle United visit already relegated Queens Park Rangers on Saturday and this time there will be no excuse for not winning the match and getting the three points that would secure their Premier League status. QPR won't let them win easily though, they have nothing left to lose and they will surely try to give their fans a good match to wrap up their adventure in the top flight. Newcastle haven't lost any of their last nine league matches against QPR. The last win for the Rangers against the Magpies was back in 1995. The reverse fixture was won by Newcastle 1-0 thanks to a goal from Moussa Sissoko.

Queens Park Rangers were thrashed 6-0 last weekend by Manchester City, a result that confirmed their relegation. Head coach Chris Ramsey took over from Harry Redknapp in February but was unable to steer the club away from the danger zone. Ramsey has not won any home matches so far in the Premier League, with five defeats and one draw. A good result against Newcastle might give him a better chance to remain in charge next season in the Championship. The manager has said that QPR will field their strongest eleven against Newcastle.

Newcastle finally ended their losing streak last week, when they secured a 1-1 home draw against West Brom. Before that match they had lost no less than eight games in a row. The Magpies are two points ahead of Hull City with two matches left in the season, so a win at Loftus Road would give them safety if the Tigers fail to win at Tottenham. But if Newcastle lose and Hull win then the Magpies would drop into the relegation zone before the last match of the Premier League season. Papiss Cisse might start after coming off the bench against West Brom last weekend.

Probable line-ups:

Queens Park Rangers: Green - Onuoha, Dunne, Hill - Phillips, Henry, Fer, Barton, Hoilett - Zamora, Austin

Newcastle United: Krul - Janmaat, Coloccini, R Taylor, Dummett - Gutierrez, Sissoko, Colback, Cabella, Perez - Cisse

My prediction: 1-1 draw.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

QPR win - 3.10 Draw - 3.50 Newcastle win - 2.40
