Back UEFA Champions League: Bayern Munich vs Porto preview

Bayern Munich face a tough task on Tuesday when they will try to overturn a 3-1 first-leg defeat against Porto in the Champions League quarter-finals. Last week's result was a big surprise but Porto deserved the win considering the way they played. The head-to-head record between the two sides is now perfectly balanced: two wins apiece and two draws. The two sides have met two times in the Champions League quarter-finals and Bayern pulled through on both occasions.

After last week's defeat in Portugal Bayern captain Phillip Lahm said that his side still hold a great chance of making it through to the last four. Head coach Pep Guardiola had a similar attitude after his side's second defeat in the last six Champions League matches. Last weekend they restored some confidence with a 2-0 Bundesliga victory over Hoffenheim. Bayern still have plenty of injury problems, with David Alaba, Medhi Benatia, Javi Martinez, Franck Ribery,Bastian Schweinsteiger and Arjen Robben all out of contention.

Porto gave themselves a big chance of reaching the semi-finals for the first time since 2004, when they lifted the trophy under the guidance of Jose Mourinho. Current coach Julen Lopetegui has led the team to great results in 2015, winning 13 of their last 16 matches. They have won their last four matches in all competitions and have not lost in the Champions League so far. Porto will be without their first-choice full backs, both Alex Sandro and Danilo are suspended.

Probable line-ups:

Bayern Munich: Neuer - Dante, Thiago, Boateng - Lahm, Bernat, Alonso, Rafinha, Gotze - Muller, Lewandowski

Porto: Fabiano - Marcano, Maicon, Martins Indi, Angel - Casemiro, Herrera, Torres, Quaresma - Martinez, Brahimi

My prediction: Bayern Munich to win 3-1 (after 90 minutes)

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Bayern win - 1.36 Draw - 5.50 Porto win - 9.00
