OPAP Offered Sole Licensing for Horse Race Betting
HRADF, Greek government privatization agency, has offered former government gambling monopoly, OPAP, a contract to acquire sole licensing for horse racing betting. According to the Reuters news agency, this arrangement comes after HRADF announced plans to sell exclusive betting rights to OPAP. Before privatization, OPAP operated horse racing betting in Greece but Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said that international investors have insisted on privatization. The Greek government projects that privatization deals could generate Euro 1.5 billion in 2015.
