A crucial survival battle takes place on Tuesday as Aston Villa welcome Queens Park Rangers to Villa Park. This match could decide the fate of these two relegation-threatened teams as only three points separate them with six matches remaining. QPR defeated Aston Villa 2-0 at Loftus Road in October, with Charlie Austin bagging both goals. However, QPR haven't won at Villa Park in the league since 1992.
Aston Villa are just above the bottom three, but a defeat would drag them into the drop zone as they only have a two-point gap over 18th-placed Burnley. Tim Sherwood's men were defeated by Swansea and Manchester United in the last two matches and they will have to face tough sides next like Tottenham, Manchester City, Everton, West Ham United and Southampton. Alan Hutton, Scott Sinclair and Ashley Westwood are injured for the home side while Aly Cissokho and Kieran Richardson might recover just in time.
QPR's survival hopes received a huge boost last weekend after they ended a five-match losing streak with a convincing 4-1 success at West Brom. QPR will also face big teams like Chelsea, West Ham, Liverpool and Manchester City in their next matches, so the clash with Aston Villa becomes even more important. However, they have not won two consecutive games games all season. Alejandro Faurlin, Richard Dunne and Leroy Fer are injured for QPR while Eduardo Vargas is in doubt.
Probable line-ups:
Aston Villa: Guzan - Baker, Vlaar, Clark, Lowton - N'Zogbia, Gil, Delph, Weimann - Benteke, Agbonlahor
QPR: Green - Isla, Onuoha, Caulker, Yoon - Phillips, Barton, Sandro, Kranjcar - Austin, Zamora
My prediction: 1-1 draw.
Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:
Aston Villa win - 23/20 Draw - 12/5 QPR win - 14/5

I think that both teams can be satisfied with one point.

I think this is an unpredictable game and all options are possible. I believe Aston Villa will survive for yet another season in the premier league, but I'm not so sure for QPR. Everything else except the victory for QPR will be a huge blow for their hopes for survival, and for Villa this game could be the salvation.

Aston Villa was defeated in the last two matches in the Premier League, while Queens Park failed to stop a series of disparate results with a triumph away versus West Bromwich Albion. At this point, duel of the two teams could be characterized as a clash of bad and worse. True, the team of Birmingham is a slight favorite...

At this point, duel of the two teams could be characterized as a clash of bad and worse. True, the team of Birmingham is a slight favorite because of home field, but only three points difference on the table clearly say that it would be good to avoid this one on your betting tickets. My predictions: - Result: 1:1, with QPR leading; - Man of the match: Charles N'Zogbia

This will be a real tough battle of the two teams for staying in the premier league. Both of them had bad seasons especially QPR who expected more from this one . Qpr played great in the last game and won 1-4 WBA which is known as a tough host . But I think Aston Villa is a favourite in this one because of the home field...

Despite the fact that Aston Villa are out of the relegation zone at the moment, there will be very big fight between five or even six teams to take places that will assure them place in next Premier League season. Aston Villa just can't find the right rhythm and on the other side there is very solid QPR, and they will be very motivated tomorrow because in last round they beat WBA on their own field with 1:4. It will be interesting match and maybe this match will be deciding for that where these two teams will play next year.
