England could consider a bid to host the 2026 World Cup, according to Football Association chairman Greg Dyke. The decision depends on who will be the FIFA chairman though, if Sepp Blatter remains in place then chances would be almost non-existent.
"We don't bid while Mr Blatter's there," said Dyke. England had a bid in place for the 2018 tournament but lost out to Russia. Then allegations of corruptions in the bidding surfaced, concerning both the 2018 and 2022 editions. FIFA investigated the issue and cleared the hosts, Russia and Qatar, of any accusations. Dyke questioned the conclusions of that report at the time: "I don't think it is a straight organisation and hasn't been for many years."
Blatter is running for a fifth term in office at the age of 79, if he wins he will oversee the bid process for the 2026 World Cup. Dyke added: "It depends on the timetable really. It depends on how quickly it has to be done. But remember, you have to get an awful lot of people onside and that's not going to be easy in England now because a lot of people got badly scarred in the process last time. To make a bid you've got to get whoever is the government onside, and we don't know who that is yet because they have to underwrite it. Also, there's a lot of money involved, so if you haven't got a chance, don't do it."
England are 20/1 at Bet365 to win the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

They organized Olympics, they have infrastructure, they have lobby, and I believe that they main favorite if they decide to bid on it. While we have a lot of time until 2026., today we can see that England has several World cup ready stadiums, and they can easy generate good attendance and profit from this tournament. I...

I will be very glad to see the World cup back in England, if in 2026 I'm still alive of course :D I'm sick and tired of FIFA experiments in more than 20 years when they organized the tournament all across the world but not where he belongs. England is not hosting the tournament since 1966 and till 2026 it will be 60 years....

I think that will be great to see World cup in England. They have great stadiums, people who love football and I think that will be a big spectacle... and can you imagine finals on Wembley stadium. I think that will be great for every football fan on the world... Special if we know that 2022 World cup will be in Qatar?!...

There are very big argues about how FIFA is giving some countries right to organize World Cup's. So now, while we hear big argues and rumors about how Qatar won to be home country for WC in 2022, and also how maybe it will be played in the winter, we also see how some "big" people in FIFA are not "on the same page". So now, while we hear big argues and rumors about how Qatar won to be home country for WC in 2022, and also how maybe it will be played in the winter, we also see how some "big" people in FIFA are not "on the same page". My personal opinion is that football is loosing its meaning since there are circulating very BIG amounts of money.
