It is now certain that Fernando Alonso will fly to Malaysia for the Grand Prix on 29 March. The decision comes after the driver had several tests to establish whether he has recovered from concussion. The Spaniard missed the first race of the season in Australia after suffering a crash in pre-season testing runs.
Luis Garcia Abad, a personal adviser to Alonso, refused to confirm reports in Spain that Alonso had got the all-clear after the tests. "It is private so I cannot confirm or deny it, but I have no doubts he will go to Malaysia as planned," he said.
The tests on Alonso were conducted by an independent board of three physicians at Cambridge University, set up by Formula 1's governing body as an extra medical panel when required. The McLaren driver will have to go through further tests when he arrives at the Sepang circuit but it is believed that he will be fit to race at the weekend.
If he does pass the tests and then win the Malaysian GP he could make a few punters rich as the odds on him to win the race are at 500/1 at Bet365.

Alonso is great champion, and i am happy that Ferrari showed to the world that they have good team and formulas this season, and that they can be great rival for Mecerdes. Vettel wons this race, and that is important news because nobody wants to watch one man or one team show in sport. This could be interesting season....

I was talking before race that Ferrari is close to Mercedes but I didn't expect to one of their driver actually win this race. Well done Vettel well done Ferrari. This was great weekend for Italian team, Vettel was first, Kimi was fourth after all these problems and the most important thing is that they beat Mercedes fair and square on open road. And I would like to see more news from formula 1, this was big event this weekend and we saw only one news, and after Ferrari's win (it was a big surprise) you didn't write anything about that, but never mind I am sure that you have a lot of work...

Fernando Alonso was not so good at first two practices in Malaysia but I think that he will be fine and soon he will be back in form. For me great news is that Ferrari was close to Mercedes and Kimi was only 0.3 second slower than Hamilton and he was better than Nico Rosberg. So I think that we will have interesting week...

For me Fernando Alonso is the best driver in Formula 1 at this moment. Everyone talk about Mercedes and how great are they but I think that Fernando Alonso can do something more to ruin their plans for this season but most important is that he get healthy 100% and titles will come :)

Formula 1 is finally back and I am very excited. In first race we saw that everything is same, Mercedes will be dominant this year too and only question is who will be champion Hamilton or Nico. I love Alonso and I hope that he can do something more and maybe beat Mercedes in Malaysia but it is almost impossible.

I hope that Fernando Alonso will be fine after that concussion, in the end the health always have to be on first place. Maybe his performance not going to be at 100% but it's a positive sign that he is going to travel to Malaysia and of course I wish him a fast recovery.

I'm not a big Formula One fan, but since I was a little boy I'm Ferrari's fan. When I heard that Fernando Alonso will move to all time biggest opponents McLaren I must say that I was disappointed, because after Michael Schumacher, Alonso was my second favorite driver that was in Ferrari's teams in newer history of F1. Anyway,...
