Back Tennis: Serena Williams through to Indian Wells semi finals

Serena Williams reached the semi-finals of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells after defeating Timea Bacsinszky in the last eight. The match ended 7-5 6-3, extending Serena's winning streak to 15 matches. It is a special moment for Williams, who is playing at Indian Wells after a 14-year boycott of the event.

"I'm just happy I was able to get through and still be alive in this tournament when I haven't clearly been the Serena that we all know," Williams said after the match. Bacsinszky was on her own 15-match winning streak, but she still leads this year's WTA statistics with 21 wins and 3 losses.

"The only thing is I know can I play a lot better. I really take a lot of solace in that," Williams added. "Even if I don't win this event, I know I can play a tremendous amount better than what I have been playing." Williams will face world number 3 Simona Halep in the semi finals after the Romanian fought back to beat Carla Suarez Navarro 5-7 6-1 6-1. Halep is the most recent player to defeat Williams, that happened at last season's closing event, the WTA Finals in Singapore.

Here are the odds for Saturday's semi final at Bet365:

Serena Williams win - 4/11 Simona Halep win - 9/4
