Back UEFA Europa League: Wolfsburg vs Inter Milan preview

Wolfsburg are the only German team left in the Europa League and they face a tough test in the last sixteen against Italian side Inter Milan. The two sides meet on Thursday in the first leg of their last-16 tie. Italy have no less than five teams left at this stage of the competition.

Wolfsburg have faced Italian opponents three times before and have never managed to win, they lost twice and secured a 2-2 draw against AC Milan. Striker Aaron Hunt will be unavailable for the home side, but Dutch forward Bas Dost will play and look to add to his impressive 13-goal tally in 2015.

Midfielder Maximilian Arnold is doubtful due to a back complaint, while former Chelsea players Kevin de Bruyne and Andre Schurrle should make the starting line up. Inter coach Roberto Mancini is not yet sure of Yuto Nagatomo's fitness as the full back is struggling with a thigh problem. Inter have snatched five wins out of their previous 16 trips to Germany, most notably the 3-2 success at Bayern Munich in 2011.

Probable line-ups:

Wolfsburg: Benaglio - Trasch, Naldo, Knoche, Rodriguez - Gustavo, Guilavogui - Vieirinha, De Bruyne, Schurrle - Dost

Inter: Handanovic - Santon, Ranocchia, Juan, D'Ambrosio - Guarin, Medel, Shaqiri, Kovacic - Palacio, Icardi

My prediction: 1-1 draw.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Wolfsburg win - 7/10 Draw - 3/1 Inter win - 9/2
