Back UEFA Europa League: Everton vs Dynamo Kiev preview

Everton welcome Dynamo Kiev on Thursday in the first leg of their Europa League last-16 encounter. The previous round was fairly easy for the Toffees as they demolished Swiss team Young Boys 7-2 on aggregate. However, manager Roberto Martinez might be more focused on saving his team from relegation in the Premier League than on European glory.

Everton have recorded three wins out of four home games in this season's Europa League. Dynamo Kiev defeated Guingamp in the previous round, they were beaten 2-1 in Franc but fought back and won 3-1 at home. Since then Dynamo recorded another three wins. They have won just four of their previous 22 meetings against English sides in Europe though.

Everton will be without a few key players like Leighton Baines, Leon Osman and Aiden McGeady while Younes Belhanda, Sergei Rybalka and top scorer Andriy Yarmolenko are all suspended Dynamo. The visitors also have Lukman Haruna, Yevhen Makarenko and Yevhen Selin injured.

Probable line-ups:

Everton: Howard - Alcaraz, Stones, Jagielka, Coleman - Barry, McCarthy, Gibson, Barkley, Naismith - Lukaku

Dynamo Kiev: Shovkovsky - Vida, Danilo Silva, Dragovic, Antunes - Chumak, Miguel Veloso - Lens, Buyalskyy, Husyev - Kravets

My prediction: 1-1 draw.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Everton win - 13/10 Draw - 12/5 Dynamo Kiev win - 12/5
